One of CPM’s valued customers in the Perth CBD had a problem with their potable water pressure system. The constant cycling (pumps turning on and off) was causing resonance in the pipe work. It had also caused damage to pump #2 in the set. The major cause of the problem was the analogue pump control with mechanical pressure switches were past their operable life span.
CPM recommended a new pump controller complete with a variable speed drive to smooth the power flow out to the pumps. Additionally, the tank fill floats were replaced with differential floats set so that a larger volume of water in the tank was used before it pump set operated to refill the tank. Why the system was down new check valves, diaphragms and isolation valves were fitted for the purpose of ongoing maintenance.
This results in a life span increase in the pump via smooth powering and less starts and stops to fill. As important is the saving in energy costs to run the system. But above all no more banging pipework. To solve these complex issues, it is important to use knowledgeable and professionally trained technicians.
