Large commercial hot water plant has many components to make them operate efficiently. Apart from the heating system itself the hot water circulators that are either attached to the heating plant or the hot water ring main need inspection and service at least 6 monthly.

Water constantly being heated through the system accelerates lime, scale and sludge build ups on these pumps. Continued build up can in time create inefficiencies in the heating system or in some cases very expensive failure.

These heat pumps in the attached photo, on a large hotel, unfortunately had both hot water circulators fail at the same time resulting in not hot water being delivered to the guests. You can imagine what it did to the room rates!
